Background on Project

China Guodian is currently planning to build a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 700 MW in Gansu Province. The project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2014.[2][1]

The sponsor of the project shifted to Gansu Power Investment in 2014. It is under construction since December 2014, and is aimed for being commissioned in August 2017.[3][4]

Unit 1 was commissioned in October 2017,[5] and unit 2 in December 2017.[6]

Ownership

In 2014 it was also reported that China Guodian was planning to sell its subsidiary, GD Wuwei Power Company, which would include the transfer of the proposed Wuwei Cogen power station.[7] The subsidiary and power station were sold to Gansu Power Investment Co.[8]
