Background

Xinhai power station dates to 1941 and is one of the oldest power plants in China. The newest units (Units 5 and 6) replaced Units 1 and 2, each 220 MW, which have been decommissioned. Units 3 and 4 are each 330 MW. The plant is owned by Jiangsu Xinhai Power Co Ltd.[1][2]

Units 5 and 6, totaling 2,000 MW, were completed in 2012 and 2016.[3]
