Xinjiang Kuangou Coal Mine (国能新疆宽沟矿业有限责任公司(曾用名:新疆神华天电矿业有限公司)) is an underground coal mine located in Kuangou, Queergou Town, Hutubi County, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang, China.[1]

Coal Mine Background

Kuangou Coal Mine is operated by Xinjiang Shenhua Tiandian Mining Industry Co., Ltd. Construction was officially started in September 2004, with a 1.2 million tons/year design production capacity, and a 5 million tons/year production capacity was reserved for the main links. Kuangou Coal Mine was put into production in May 2010.[2] As of the end of June 2020, the approved production capacity is 1.8 million tons/year.[3]

At 6:30 am on March 12, 2010, a partial roof collapse occurred in Kuangou Coal Mine, and one person was slightly injured.[4]On October 8, 2010, a ground pressure accident occurred in Kuangou Coal Mine, causing 4 deaths and 2 serious injuries.[5]
