Yangcheng power station (山西阳城发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 3300-megawatts (MW) in Beiliu, Yangcheng, Jincheng, Shanxi, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 大唐阳城电厂.

Background
Yangcheng power station is an eight-unit coal-fired power station totaling 3,300 MW. It was built in 2001 to 2007, and is majority-owned by China Datang.[5]
The plant is the site of the world's two largest dry cooling towers for its 2×600MW phase 2 units.[6]
In November 2023, a 2 x 1,000 MW Phase III was announced at Yangcheng power station.[7]
Phase III Unit 9 had project coordination meetings held in November 2023[8] and the social stability risk assessment was publicized[9]. In December 2023, a project promotion meeting was held[10]. In February 2024, another project promotion meeting was held[11]. No news emerged for several months. A further meeting was held in November 2024 to push for project approval[12]. In 2025, a transmission planning study was tendered in March[13] and a project promotion meeting was held in July[14]. The EIA was publicly notified in October[15]. In February 2026, the EIA was approved by the provincial authorities[16].
