Yangquan-2 power station (晋能山西阳光发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 1280-megawatts (MW) in Pingding, Yangquan, Shanxi, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 山西阳光发电公司二期等容量替代项目 (Unit 5, Unit 6).

Background

Yangquan-2 power station is a four-unit coal-fired power station totaling 1,280 MW. It was built in 1996 to 1999, and is owned by Jinneng Group.[1]

Capacity Replacement Proposal

In 2021, two 1,000 MW replacement units were proposed to replace the four existing units.[2][3]

The feasibility study review was completed in March 2022.[4]
