Yantai LNG Terminal, also known as 中交能源烟台港西港区LNG接收站, is an LNG import terminal in China with units that are proposed and in construction.

Background
Phase 1
Yantai LNG Terminal Phase 1 is a proposed 3 mtpa LNG import terminal in Shandong, China. The terminal is sponsored by GCL-Poly and expected to be in operation in 2020.[11]
In 2018 it was reported to be in "planning preparation",[12] and in March 2020, the terminal was officially permitted.[13][14][15]
The construction of the Yantai LNG terminal began on 31 October 2020.[16] The receiving capacity of Yantai LNG Terminal is 5.9 mtpa according to the permitting document.[17] The expected operating date is 2022.[17]
In August 2021, CCCC Urban and Rural Energy Co., Ltd became the biggest shareholder of the LNG Terminal project.[18]
A 530-kilometer gas pipeline connecting Yantai LNG Terminal with Shandong gas pipeline network was permitted for construction in June 2020. [19]
As of September 2023, Phase 1 still appeared to be under construction.
The first phase of Yantai LNG terminal is expected to be operating at the second half of 2024. The total investment is 8.3 billion RMB. It includes five 200,000-cubic-meter storage tanks and one 266,000 cubic meter of capacity receiving berth. [20]
烟台LNG项目位于山东省烟台市烟台港西港区，项目占地面积41.22公顷，总投资83.16亿元，核准规模590万吨/年。建设内容主要包括新建5座20万方LNG全容罐、1座26.6万方LNG接卸泊位、1座5万方LNG转水泊位，预计于2024年下半年建成投产。[20]

As of February 2026, the project is still under construction and has not yet been officially commissioned.[21]
Phase 2
Phase 2 of Yantai LNG Terminal was proposed in 2020. Five more storage tanks with 200,000 cubic meters each will be added, as well as two 266,000-cubic meter jetties. The total receiving capacity will reach 10 mtpa after the Phase 2 is completed.[22]
