Background

Yongchuan Gangqiao Industry Park Cogen power station is a proposed 2 x 350 MW coal plant in Yongchuan District. The project would include a new port.[6]

There have been no further developments since the project was proposed in 2016, and plans appear shelved.

The gas-steam combined cycle cogeneration project received approval from the Chongqing Municipal Development and Reform Commission in October 2021. It is a clean energy combined heat and power project, replacing coal-based power with gas-based power. [7]

The first phase of construction includes one gas-steam combined cycle unit. The project commenced construction in August 2022, and the first unit was completed and put into operation in August 2023.[8]
