Background

In 2012, Honam Petrochemical and KP Chemical merged to form Lotte Chemical Corporation.[1]

Lotte Chemical Corporation's Yeosu Complex is an active petrochemical complex located in South Jeolla, South Korea. The complex started commercial operations in 1979. The facilities in the complex are operated by Lotte Chemical and Lotte-GS Chemical.[2]

The petrochemical complex appears to include cogenerating gas capacity[3] and coal capacity.[4]

CCU (Carbon Capture Utilization) technology was installed at Yeosu Factory 1 in March 2021 for testing.[5]

Lotte Corp's 2021 Sustainability Report stated: "we shall guarantee and support human rights in the coal community which we belong to".[6]

The power station's fuel mix and operating capacity are uncertain.
