Yunnan Gas Pipeline Network is a pipeline network in Yunnan Province, China, with segments that are proposed, in construction, and operating.

Network Background

On July 28, 2013, Sino-Myanmar Gas Pipeline began operating. [1]Yunnan was the first province to receive gas along the pipeline. In 2012, Yunnan province initiated the construction of its gas pipeline network, based on the gas supply from the Sino-Myanmar Gas Pipeline and a small amount of local shale gas.[2] By 2016, 6 gas pipelines had been completed. Three years later, 28 gas pipelines were completed, bringing the total pipeline mileage to 2634 kilometers.[3]

截至2019年，已建成天然气干支线管道28条，总里程达2634公里。全省天然气消费量从2016年的7.4亿方增长至2019年的18.79亿方，其中缅气从2016年的1.32亿方增长至2019年的10.35亿方，增长近7倍。2019年全省天然气消费量18.79亿方，同比增长21.6%，其中缅气10.35亿方，同比增长17.61%。[3]

In Yunnan's 13th Five-Year Plan on Energy issued in October 2016, it laid out 7 gas pipeline proposals. A detailed list of proposed pipelines is at the sidebar. [4]

In February 2021, Yunnan province issued its 14th Five-Year Plan, in which it set a goal of 5000 kilometers gas pipeline by 2025. [5] A map of the major energy projects including gas pipelines is also attached.

The province tries to diversify its gas source. In 2021, a gas pipeline from Guangxi to Yunnan (Baise-Wenshan gas pipeline (百色—文山）was proposed. It will bring gasified LNG to Yunnan.[6]

The pipeline was proposed in 2016, permitted in 2017, and was slated to become operational in 2018.[16] However, by March 2021 the construction had not yet begun, owing to financial difficulties of the sponsor company.[17] The pipeline was mentioned most recently in the Yunnan Province 14th Five-Year Plan.[18]
