Background

Zhangping power station was founded in 1985. The first phase of 2 units with 100MW each were brought online in 1986 and 1987. The second phase was completed in 1994, adding two units with 100MW each to the power plant. The 4 units were shut down before 2008, to meet the requirement for developing additional 2 units. The unit 5 and 6, known as phase III, totaling 600 MW, received the permit for construction from NDRC in 2009, and were completed in 2011 and 2012. The plant is owned by China Huadian.[1][2][3] In 2017, the power station received the permit from Fujian Provincial DRC to upgrade the two 300MW units to CHP units, supplying heat to the Zhangping Industrial Park besides generating electricity.
