Zheneng Yueqing power station (浙能乐清发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 4520-megawatts (MW) in Hongqiao Town, Yueqing, Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China.

Background
Zheneng Yueqing power station is a six-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 2,520 MW in Zhejiang Province. The first two units, totaling 1,200 MW, were completed in 2008. Units 3 & 4, totaling 1,320 MW, were completed in 2010. The plant is majority-owned by Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group.[1][2]
Proposed expansion
In 2015, it was reported that there was a proposed 2 x 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical coal expansion at the power station.[3]
There was no further news on the proposed expansion until October 2020, when it was reported the new units were seeking permit approval.[4]
Construction for at least one unit was underway, although it was unclear when it began. According to one source, a commencement ceremony of "the third phase" was reportedly held in July 2021.[5] Other sources noted construction began in October 2020[6] or September 2021.[7] Construction of Unit 5 was presumed underway, and in turn, Unit 6 was presumed permitted.
As of June 2022, Unit 6 was also under construction, though the date entering construction remained unclear.[8]
In April 2023, Unit 5 was connected to the grid.[9][10] The unit officially began operating at the end of the month.[11]
In May 2023, construction of Unit 6 was complete, and testing was underway.[12] The unit was successfully connected to the grid.[13][14]
In June 2023, Unit 6 began operating.[15]
