Background

Zhunda power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 600 MW. The plant was completed in 2006, and is owned by Inner Mongolia Asset Management Bureau.[1]

In 2022, based on tender bid numbers (e.g. HNZB2022-12-3-280), an additional 2 x 1,000 MW appeared under consideration at the site. The project reportedly started construction on March 18, 2023, and was scheduled to be put into operation by 2025.[2][3][4][5] Permitting details were unknown.
