Coal Mine Background

The Zhundong Surface Mine (Wucaiwan No.3 Surface Mine) is operated by Shenhua Xinjiang Jimsar Energy Co., Ltd. It is a large scale modern coal mine invested by National Energy Investment Group.Wucaiwan mining area in Zhundong Coalfield has a coal-bearing area of ​​901km2 and a coal resource of 30800.0Mt. The mining area is divided into 6 mines (wells) and one exploration area, with a construction scale of 115.0Mt/a, of which the construction scale of the No. 3 surface coal mine is 20.0Mt/a (10.00Mt/a for the first phase of the project).[1] The first phase of the Zhundong Surface Mine completed in May 2014 and passed the environmental acceptance in January 2016 and officially put into operation.[2] On July 7, 2017, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the first phase of the No. 3 surface coal mine with a construction scale of 8 million tons per year.[3]
