Background on Project
In June 2013, KLK Madencilik (a subsidiary of Kolin, Kalyon, Limak) began the environmental permitting process to build a 640-MW, $675 million, mine-to-mouth coal-fired power plant in Afyon province. The plant would be built alongside a new KLK lignite coal mine with approximately 151 million tons of reserves.[1][2]
An environmental hearing was held in Uluköy in July 2013.[3] A feasibility report was submitted in 2014.[4]
