Ahya Steel Folad Baft Company DRI plant (شرکت احیاء استیل فولاد بافت, کارخانه فولاد بافت), also known as Ehya Steel, Baft Steel Company, Ihya Steel, is a steel plant in Baft, Kerman, Iran that operates direct reduced iron (DRI) technology.

Background

Ahya Steel Folad Baft Company is one of the largest producers of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) in Iran.[1] The primary contractor for its construction was Khatam al-Anbiya Construction, part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).[2] Its first phase, launched in 2019, has a production capacity of 800,000 tons per year, and a second phase, which began in 2023, doubles its capacity to 1.6 million tons annually. The facility uses PERED technology, a domestically developed DRI method aimed at improving efficiency and reducing emissions.[3]

In February 2025, the plant drastically reduced production and shut down the second DRI unit due to electricity shortages.[2] In June 2025, a 40 MW solar power plant opened to supply electricity for the plant, and production restarted.[4]
