Ajaokuta Steel plant is a steel plant in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, Nigeria that operates blast furnace (BF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) technology.

Background

Ajaokuta was a Soviet backed project in 1979.[1] However, due to technical, social, political and economic setbacks, the plant never came online despite being completely constructed in 1994.[1]

There has been many attempts in reviving the plant but none of them have been materialized.[2]
