Amreli Steels Dhabeji plant is a steel plant in Dhabeji, Sindh, Pakistan that operates steelmaking and induction furnace (IF) technology.

Background

Amreli Steels was founded in 1972 as a rebar manufacturing company. The billet plant was inaugurated in 2011 with an annual capacity of 200 ttpa.[1]

In November 2018, Amreli Steels announced its third phase of an expansion plan for establishing an additional state-of-the-art rolling mill using Pioneering Technology at Dhabeji special economic zone (SEZ) at a projected cost of Rs 6.5 billion, which would increase its rolling capacity from 605 thousand metric tons per annum (ttpa) to 1,105 ttpa. This would increase the melting capacity of the plant from 600 ttpa to 1,000 ttpa.[2]

Since 2024, Amreli Steels has experienced financial difficulties as a result of low demand for steel and limited material availability.[3] Capacity utilization fell by more than 60% in 2025, to a total production of just over 70,000 tons from the 600 ttpa plant.[4] In October 2025, the company announced a massive financial restructuring based on more than 27 billion rupees in loans.[5] As of 2025, there have been no further developments regarding the planned expansion announced in 2018.
