Background

The Azna steel plant is planned to have 1.9 million tons per year in Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking capacity, split between two furnace units.^[1] However, the company has faced legal and financial difficulties that have significantly delayed progress of the first phase of the project, and which were ongoing as of August 2025.^[2]
