Background

The Azna steel plant is planned to have 1.9 million tons per year in Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking capacity, split between two furnace units. However, the company has faced legal and financial difficulties that have significantly delayed progress of the first phase of the project, and which were ongoing as of August 2025.
