Butia Iranian Steel Kerman plant (شرکت فولاد بوتیای ایرانیان, مجتمع فولاد بوتیای ایرانیان), also known as Butia Iranian Steel Complex, BISCO, is a steel plant in Chatroud, Kerman, Iran that operates electric arc furnace (EAF) and direct reduced iron (DRI) technology.

Background

Since 2015, the Butia Iranian steel plant operates a large HYL-type Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) unit constructed by Danieli with 2.0 million tonnes per year in capacity.[1] In 2022, it started up an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) with 1.5 million tonnes per year in steel capacity, one of the largest single units produced by an Iranian company.[2][3][4]

The plant has its own 450 MW combined cycle power plant, the Butia power plant, with an additional solar power plant under construction.[5]
