Background

The Daido Steel Chita plant (Tokai) began in 1962 under Daido Steel.^[1]^[2] Daido Steel operates several other plants/factories. The Chita factory produces 90% of the company's crude steel.^[3] The company in June 2024 said that they do not anticipate any investment in upstream processes at the Chita plant during the 2024 to 2026 mid-term plan period.^[4]
