Background

Dalyshope Coal Project is a proposed surface coal mine, owned by Thungela Resources Limited, in Limpopo Province, South Africa. The Dalyshope project area is situated 54 km west of Lephalale in the Limpopo province. (The coal development area is comprised of four Waterberg farms.) The large resource is ideally suited for opencast mining to produce thermal coal for the domestic market. The resource can support a 10 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) run-of-mine production for up to 30 years.
