Background on Mine

The Damini coal mine project is an underground mine with a designed capacity of 0.48 MTPA on a lease area of 335 Ha. The mine is operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India.

The project was earlier granted environmental clearance by the MoEF&CC India on 5 October, 2004 and now requires fresh appraisal/approval in terms of the Ministry’s Notification dated 6th April, 2018 for their present mining operations. Public Hearing for the project of 0.48 MTPA for an area of 335 ha was conducted on 12th October, 2001 by the Madhya Pradesh State Pollution Control Board and also consent to operate.
