Dexin Steel Morowali plant, also known as Dexin Steel, is a 3500 thousand tonnes per annum (TTPA) blast furnace (BF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steel plant operating in Bahodopi, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Location
The map below shows the location of the steel plant in Bahodopi, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.
- Location: Fatufia, Kec. Bahodopi, Kabupaten Morowali, Sulawesi Tengah 94974, Indonesia[1]
- Coordinates (WGS 84): -2.829514, 122.174896 (exact)
Background
Dexin Steel Morowali began operations in 2020 with 3.5 mtpa crude steel production and 3.8mtpa iron production through the blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) steelmaking route.[2] An additional 2.2 mtpa of BF capacity and 2.5 mtpa BOF steelmaking capacity is under construction with an anticipated start date of early 2022.[3][2] An additional 14 mtpa of BF-BOF steelmaking capacity has been proposed with an unknown start date.[3] The company is looking for sites in Indonesia for the additional 14 mtpa capacity.[4]
Dexin Steel Morowali is located in the Morowali Industrial park, which was built by the Tsingshan Industrial Board of Directors starting in October 2013.
