Background

The Dongguan Jianhui Paper Mill power station is a captive power plant that provides electricity to the facilities of the Dongguan Jianhui Paper Company. Commissioned with a 50 MW unit in 2005, followed by another 42 MW unit in 2010, the plant commissioned a gas-based boiler on site as well in December 2020.[2]

In 2021, the city of Dongguan, Guangdong, announced a plan to convert all coal-fired captive power plants in the area to gas-fired ones within several months. The Dongguan Jianhui Paper Mill power station was included in the list.[2] The date of their full conversion to gas has not been announced yet, however.
