Background

The power station is not to be confused with the Dongguan Jintian Paper Mill power station nearby.

The Dongguan Jianhui Paper Mill power station is a captive power plant that provides electricity to the facilities of the Dongguan Jianhui Paper Company. The plant appeared to include a gas-based boiler on site as well in December 2020.

In 2021, the city of Dongguan, Guangdong, announced a plan to convert all coal-fired captive power plants in the area to gas-fired ones within several months. The Dongguan Jianhui Paper Mill power station was included in the list. The date of their full conversion to gas had not been announced yet, however.
