Background

The Dongguan Jintian Paper Mill power station is a two-unit captive power plant in Guangdong Province, China. The power station is operated by Dongguan Jintian Paper Co., Ltd, and it was slated for retirement in 2019.

In October 2021, Dongguan local government ordered all small captive power plants to shut down or switch to clean fuels by the end of 2025 and this particular plant was ordered to shut down before 31 December 2021[1]. Dongguan Jintian Paper Mill switched from coal to gas power. The gas-fired power plant started operating on 30 March 2021[2].

It is not to be confused with the Dongguan Jianhui Paper Mill power station nearby.
