Background

Fuhai Group, in 2014, announced to invest $1.2 billion in Jambi, Indonesia, including a steel mill, port, offices and power plant. The project was expected to be completed by the end of 2016. The company announced that the steel plant will source its nickel pig iron material from a smelter also being developed by Fuhai Group. As of 2025, there is no signs or news of construction of the project.
