GPH Steel Sitakunda plant, also known as GPH Ispat Sitakunda, is a steel plant in Kumira, Sitakunda, Chittagong, Bangladesh that operates electric arc furnace (EAF) and induction furnace (IF) technology.

Background
GPH Ispat Steel plant is a public limited steel manufacturing company in Chittagong, Bangladesh, founded on 17 May, 2006.[1][2] Commercial production of steel started on 21 August, 2008. The plant was expanded in 2016 using Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Quantum Technology by enhancement of production capacity of 840 ttpa billets, which was commissioned in 2021.[2] The plant had an existing capacity of 170 ttpa through induction furnaces.[3]
The scrap steel used by the plant comes primarily from shipbreaking, an industry in which Chittagong is the world leader, but which has been connected to dangerous work conditions and pollution.[4]
