Background

PT Gorby Putra Utama (GPU) is a coal mining subsidiary of publicly listed PT Atlas Resources Tbk, located in South Sumatra, Indonesia. According to Atlas Resources' 2023 consolidated financial statements, GPU began commercial coal mining operations in 2011 and is 69.80% effectively owned by Atlas Resources, with the remaining stake held as a non-controlling interest.[7] The mine's operating license (Izin Usaha Pertambangan) was obtained on June 1, 2009, and is valid through May 31, 2029.[7]

As of the December 31, 2023 reporting date, GPU held total proven and probable coal reserves of 48.33 million metric tons, along with total measured and indicated resources of 104.60 million metric tons.[7]
