Background

Gallantt Group founded in 1984 operates an integrated steelmaking facility at Gorakhpur comprising of DRI kilns and induction furnaces and produces TMT bars.[1]

Expansion

Gallantt Ispat's Board in April 2025 approved a capital expenditure plan worth INR 1,014.98 crore to significantly expand its Gorakhpur plant capacity. The company plans to boost its steel billet production capacity from 528 ttpa to 800 ttpa, the rolling mill capacity from 528 ttpa to 805 ttpa, while sponge iron production will go up slightly from 545 ttpa to 560 ttpa. The current 78 MW capacity of its thermal and waste heat recovery power plant will be upgraded to 100 MW. Additionally, the company will set up a new 100 MW captive solar power plant. The company will fund the entire expansion through internal accruals and expects to complete the expansion project by March 2026.[2]
