Location
The map below shows the location of the steel plant in Pérez, Santa Fe, Argentina.

Background
The steel industry's roots in Pérez, Argentina date back to the 1950s, when Sipar Laminación de Aceros SA began producing finished steel products for Argentina's agricultural sector.[3] In 2005, Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau - Latin America's leading scrap metal recycler[4] and long steel producer[5] - acquired a majority stake in Sipar Aceros.[6] As of December 2020, Gerdau held a 99.99% equity interest in the plant.[7]
In 2017 Gerdau began producing crude steel at the Pérez plant with the inauguration of a new Danieli 75-tonne FastArc™ AC electric arc furnace.[8][9] The plant has the capacity to produce 650,000 tonnes of billets[8][9] and 240,000 tonnes of rolled products[7] annually. Gerdau Sipar specializes in long steel products for the automotive, agricultural, civil construction and home appliance industries.[6]
