Background

The Hadeed Metal Manufacturing Co Damascus steel plant began operating in 2012 with Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology. Little recent public information is available.

During the Syrian Civil War, the plant and its owner, Mohammed Hamsho, were accused of collaborating with the government to pillage scrap metal from areas captured by the armed forces.[1]
