Hami - Zhengzhou Transmission Line Upstream Power Generators

From Global Energy Monitor

Completed in 2014, the Hami - Zhengzhou transmission line was 2,190 km long, 800 kV. In 2013, the central government approved the construction of 8 GW of wind and 1.25 GW of photovoltaic capacity to feed this line. As of May 2023, the Global Wind and Global Solar Power Trackers contained 28 operating wind farm totaling 5.7 GW in the Yandun, Jingxia, Santanghu, and Naomaohu areas of Hami, as well as 7 PV plants totaling 450 MW in the Shankou Photovoltaic Park that came on stream in the 2015-2018 period that can be definitively linked to this larger plan. With an average capacity of about 200 MW (wind) and over 50 MW (solar), these were large plants for their time, a reflection of the significance of the project and of favorable construction conditions in the arid, sparsely populated region.
