Hebei Zongheng Group Fengnan Iron and Steel Co Ltd (河北纵横集团丰南钢铁有限公司) is a steel plant in Tangshan, Hebei, China that operates blast furnace (BF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) technology.

Background

The project was originally named the Tangshan Bohai Steel Co., Ltd. Joint Restructuring and Urban Steel Plant Relocation and Renovation Project. In November 2016, due to a change in the investment entity, the project's name was updated to the Hebei Zongheng Group Fengnan Steel Co., Ltd. Joint Restructuring and Urban Steel Plant Relocation and Renovation Project.[1]

In the project's first phase, two 2314m3 blast furnaces and two 172t converters (with an ironmaking capacity of 3.95 million tons and a steelmaking capacity of 3.84 million tons) were put into trial operation in 2019. The second-phase project 2#, 3# 2314m3 blast furnace, 3#, 4#173t converter and supporting facilities are expected to be put into operation in 2021.[2][3]

The second-phase project was put into production in 2020[4]

At the end of 2023, the world’s first large-scale hydrocarbon-based blast furnace demonstration project, jointly developed by MCC CISDI and Zongheng Group, was successfully put into operation.[5][6]
