Background The original source for the pipeline network is Daqing oil & gas field. Daqing–Harbin Gas Pipeline and Daqing-Qiqihar Gas Pipeline were built in 2007-2008 to transfer the gas to the major cities in the province.
In 2014, the China–Russia East Pipeline was proposed, adding a major natural gas source to the country,[1]
In 2018, based on the prospective new source of natural gas, the province made a plan consist of multiple gas pipelines to expand its gas pipeline network, and established a provincial pipeline network company to construct the projects. [2] [3] [4]
After the establishment of PipeChina in 2019, the sponsor for the proposal and construction of the gas pipelines shifted to PipeChina. Its branch PipeChina North Pipeline Co. plans and constructs new pipelines to the provincial network.
