Background

Hohhot Aluminum power station was a proposed six-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,800 MW by Hohhot National Electric Power Company.[1]

Two of the units were built as part of the Datang Tuoketuo power station, owned by China Datang. The remaining four units have been cancelled.[2]

Two units from the Datang Tuoketuo power station became considered captive aluminum units in July 2020.[3] and can now be considered as part of the Hohhot Aluminum power station.
