Background on Project

It was reported by WRI in 2012 that China Huadian was planning to build a massive coal-fired power complex in Gansu Province with a total planned capacity of 12,000 MW. In 2010 China Huadian signed a "strategic framework agreement with the government of Gansu to develop an energy base in the Hexi region of Gansu, including several coal-fired power plants. Further specifics were not provided. As of September 2014, the source cited by WRI does not work, and no further reports have been found to confirm such a project. It appears that the project has been abandoned.
