Background on Plant

The first four coal-fired units of 600 MW each were constructed in two phases. The four units totaling 2,400 MW were in operation by 2007. The plant is owned by China Huaneng.

Description of Expansion

A phase III of two additional units of 1,000 MW each was proposed, bringing the plant's total capacity to 4,400 MW. The two units, Units 5 and 6, went into operation in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
