Background

The Iretsky Coal Mine (Разрез Иретский) is a surface coal mine in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia.

The Iretsky Coal Mine started operations in 2018. The company has licenses for two sections: Iretsky - valid until 2038 and Northern - valid until 2040.

Razrez Iretsky LLC is owned by two private individuals.

The mine is well positioned for shipment of coal by rail to Russian ports in the Far East and to border crossings in China.

The mine is said to have capacity of 2 Mt. In the first 7 months of 2020, 0.3 Mt were extracted. In 2023, the mine exported about 1 Mt of coal.
