Background

Oyak Mining Metallurgy Group owns and operates two facilities in Turkey, Isdemir steel plant and Erdemir steel plant.[1]

Isdemir S.A. was established in 1970, but the steelmaking facilities did not begin until 1977.[2]

The plant reportedly uses 100% scrap steel for production.[3] It also has an on-site scrap yard with 200,000 tonne capacity.[4]
