Jinding Heavy Industry Co Ltd (金鼎重工有限公司, 河北钢铁集团金鼎重工股份有限公司, 金鼎重工股份有限公司, 金鼎钢铁集团), also known as Jinding Steel Group, Jinding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., Hebei Iron and Steel Group Jinding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., is a steel plant in Handan, Hebei, China that operates blast furnace (BF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) technology.

Background

On April 14, 2023, in accordance with relevant regulations regarding the approval procedure for environmental impact assessment of construction projects, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Hebei Province intends to grant approval for the environmental impact assessment documents of JinDing Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.'s 600mm H-beam continuous casting machine project and JinDing Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.'s high-efficiency No. 4 billet continuous casting machine project, based on the environmental impact assessment approval process for construction projects.[1]

On August 18, 2023, an accident at Handan Wu’an Jinding Heavy Industry caused two deaths and one injury, which the company concealed. In January 2024, the Handan municipal government launched an investigation and accountability process.[2]
