Background

The Kaavian Steel plant in Central Khorasan province, in northeastern Iran, began operations in 2001. It is primarily a processing facility for scrap and other ferrous materials, but operates five small Induction Furnaces (IF), with a total capacity of approximately 30,000 tonnes per year of steelmaking.^[1]^[2]
