Project-level coal details

  • Coal source(s): Urtuisky coal mine

Background

The plant used to be owned by United Heat Supply Company (Объединенная теплоэнергетическая компания, ОТЭК), which in turn is owned by Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions, part of Rosatom group.[1][2] In early 2023 it was announced that the plant has re-joined the structure of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Association (PIMCU), following the the decision made by Rosatom State Corporation.[3] PIMCU is also part of Rosatom.

The plant has 6 turbine units and 11 boilers with installed capacity of 410MW.[4][1][5] Available capacity of 311 MW was confirmed as part of certification in 2023.[6]

The plant secures energy supply to Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Association (PIMCU) as well as heat to the town of Krasnokamensk.[4]

It produces about 1.5 billion kWh of electricity a year.[3] Coal is supplied from the Urtuysky coal mine, in 2021 the plant used about 1.65 million tonnes of lignite.[7] In recent years, boiler units 5, 7, 8, 10, turbine units 2, 4, 5 and cooling towers 1 and 2 were overhauled.[3]
