Libyan Iron and Steel Misrata plant, also known as LISCO and Liscosteel, is a 1750 thousand tonnes per annum (TTPA) direct reduced iron (DRI) and electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plant operating in Misrata, Misrata, Libya.
Location
The map below shows the location of the steel plant in Misrata, Misrata, Libya.
- Location: Libyan Iron and Steel Company Building, Qasr Ahmad Area, 17858, Misrata, Libya[1]

Background
The Libyan Iron and Steel Misrata plant started operating in 1979. It is the largest steel manufacturer in the country. Due to regional political unrest, the plant's production has been fluctuating throughout the years.[2] In 2022, an industrial fire in the direct reduction plant took place that resulted in the death of two firefighters as well as injury of four others who responded to the fire.
