Makran Steel Sistan and Baluchestan Complex (مجتمع فولاد مکران, شرکت فولاد مکران چابهار) is a steel plant in Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchestan, Iran that operates direct reduced iron (DRI) and electric arc furnace (EAF) technology.

Background

The Makran steel plant is a planned Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel plant set to open in late 2025.[1] The first DRI unit is a Midrex Megamodule with a capacity of 1.6 million tons per year, with plans for another similar unit and two EAF units of 1.5 million tons per year in capacity each.[2][3]
