Background

Malkara Coal Mine is a surface mine in Hasköy, Malkara, Tekirdağ, Turkey. It is operated by Karma Madencilik and owned by Yeni Anadolu Madencilik ve Teknoloji.[3] Yeni Çeltek Kömür ve Madencilik A.Ş. (Yeni Çeltek Coal and Mining Company), acquired the mine in 2012 and leased its operating rights to Karma Madencilik.[3] In 2018, Yeni Çeltek Kömür ve Madencilik A.Ş. changed its name to Yeni Anadolu Madencilik ve Teknoloji (Yeni Anadolu Mining and Technology).[4]

Yeni Anadolu Mining is jointly owned by two state enterprises (Amasya Pancar Ekic. Coop. and Kömür İşletmeleri A.Ş.), TKI, and two municipalities (Merzifon municipality and Amasya Municipality.[5]
