Background
In August 2024, International FInance Corporation (IFC) announced that it will provide a loan of upto US $100 million to Bangladesh-based Megnha Re-rolling and Steel Mills Limited (MRSML) to build an electric arc furnace-based steel plant with a melting capacity of 1.4 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) and a rolling capacity of 0.9 mtpa.[1] M/s Danieli SPA, Italy has been retained to supply and establish the greenfield steel milling and rerolling plant.[2]
