Mukand Sumi Special Steel Hospet steel plant is a steel plant in Kanakapur, Ginigera, Koppal, Karnataka, India that operates blast furnace (BF) and steelmaking technology.

Background
In August 2021, Mukand Sumi Special Steel Limited (MSSSL) shifted its manufacturing activities entirely to Hospet (Karnataka) by commissioning a new 400 ttpa facility. MSSSL was earlier operating from its 500 ttpa Kalwe unit in Thane (Maharashtra). From August 2022, the alloy steel business of Mukand Sumi Metal Processing Limited (MSMPL) was merged into MSSSL.[1]
MSSL announced that it will invest INR 2,345 crore to set up a greenfield project in Hospet, which will increase its production capacity to 700 ttpa.[2]
MSSSL has placed an order with Danieli for a new blooming mill, which will be installed at its Hospet plant in September 2025. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.[3]
