Nalanda Power Company, since June 2009, has been a subsidiary of CESC Limited and an associate company of Haldia Energy and Dhariwal Infrastructure.[1]

Proposed coal-fired power station

Nalanda Power Company is proposing to build the South Pirpainti Thermal Power Station, a 2000 megawatt coal-fired power station in the state of Bihar, India. The commissioning date of the project is unknown but it has been stated will be somewhere in 2013-17 period with power to be sold to the Bihar State Electricity Board.[2]

In its 2010 annual report the directors of the company wrote that the "board places on record its appreciation and thanks to the Cental and State Governments, the BSEB, Municipalities, the railway authorities, banks, and others for their continuous support in the Company's endeavour for the project."[1]
