North–South Gas Pipeline

North-South Gas Pipeline (Russian: газопровод Север-Юг) is a proposed gas pipeline in Kyrgyzstan.[1]

Location

The pipeline is proposed to run from the North to the South of Kyrgyzstan.[1] The pipeline is proposed to connect and source gas from the Bukhara-Tashkent-Bishkek-Almaty Gas Pipeline.[1]

Background

The project was included in the General Gas Supply and Gasification Scheme of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan till 2030 issued in January 2015.[1] In 2015, the construction of the pipeline was reported to be cancelled due to its high cost.[5] The same year, it was mentioned in the media that there were discussions about changing the route of the pipeline to run in the western direction.[3]

As of August 2023, there have not been any updates about the project. The project is considered to be cancelled.
