Coal Mine Background

TerraCom has prepared a detailed drilling program for the Pentland permits.[4] The Hughenden part of the project is more advanced, with Indicated Coal Resource of 132.9Mt and a revised Inferred Resource of 1,076Mt of thermal coal.[4]

In 2011 Guildford Coal described this site as its "flagship asset". During May 2011, Guildford Coal acquired a 51% interest in the White Mountain Project, via a heads of agreement signed with Tiaro Coal. The White Mountain Project's assets have been subsumed into the Hughenden application. Guildford Coal has paid $3.3m upfront and committed approximately $5m on exploration and development from this project.

Mineral development licence was granted for Pentland in September 2006. The tenement was formerly part of Xstrata Coal's asset portfolio, prior to the merger between Xstrata and Glencore in 2013.[5]
